Amsterdam is the capital of the The Netherlands, located in the West side of the country. The city is crossed by the Amstel river which flows into the IJ, a freshwater lake flowing into the North Sea canal.

The port of Amsterdam is one of the biggest in Europe and the second in the Netherlands after Rotterdam. The terminal for ferry passengers is the Felison Terminal, in the city of IJmuiden, a 30 minutes drive from Amsterdam. From here, you can take an Amsterdam Newcastle ferry and reach the United Kingdom.

Ferries from Amsterdam to Newcastle connect Holland to England, with a sea crossing of about 16 hours. The route is managed by the ferry company DFDS Seaways and 1 departure per day is scheduled at nighttime. You can board with your vehicle and plan your holiday at your own pace!

Before boarding, the Amsterdam - Newcastle ferry passengers can enjoy a little break at Felison Terminal which offers different facilities: an information and check-in desk, a café and restrooms. There are also Tv screens and a Wi-Fi network. Travellers need to pass an identity check before entering the terminal.

Amsterdam ferries About Amsterdam

Take a ferry to Amsterdam and spend your holiday among the charm of the canals, colourful buildings, the lively nightlife, the prestigious museums and a fascinating artistic heritage dating back to the "Dutch Golden Age".

Founded in the 12th century, Amsterdam was originally a fishing village, nowadays considered as the historical, financial, artistic and tourist capital of the Netherlands, even though the Parliament and Government seat are located in the nearby The Hague. The capital of the Netherlands offers a unique atmosphere both by day and night; its nightlife and festivals are famous all over the world and appreciated by thousands of visitors every year.

➜ Enjoy a unique experience visiting Amsterdam with a canal cruise or rent a bike and discover its historic centre. Reach Dam Square, the beating heart of the city, where you can admire some of the most important monuments, such as the Royal Palace. Visit the ancient church Oude Kerk and the De Gooyer mill, then taste a delicious Dutch beer in the adjacent award-winning craft brewery.

➜ Lose yourself in the artistic neighbourhoods of Negen Straatjes and De Joordan. A must-see is the historic Anne Frank House. If you are a culture lover, set off to Museumplein and discover some of the most famous museums such as the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk. If, on the other hand, you are looking for relaxation, in Amsterdam you can pick one from more than 30 parks, but the Vondelpark is a must-see.

➜ Explore the surroundings of Amsterdam, the Netherlands offer a lot of attractions! Rotterdam is located 1 hour by car from the capital and combines a traditional and characteristic historic centre with avant-garde neighbourhoods, their spectacular skyscrapers reflected in the river waters. The Hague is the ideal destination for those who love shopping, with its numerous high-end shops, but also for beach lovers: in fact, it is the only Dutch city directly overlooking the North Sea, and is very close to the beaches of Scheveningen and Kijkduin.
