Ferries to MalmöPort connections and services

Want to discover the wonders of southern Sweden? Take a ferry to Malmö and bring your vehicle with you!

Malmö is one of Sweden's three largest cities, after Stockholm and Gothenburg. Located in the Baltic Sea, it is only a few kilometres from Denmark, to which it is connected via the Øresund Bridge. Due to its privileged position on the sea, Malmö is called the 'Gateway to Sweden' and is one of the main ports on the Baltic Sea.

Ferries from Malmö connect southern Sweden with Germany via the Malmö Travemünde route. The service is provided by the Finnish company Finnlines, which operates the route on 3 daily routes throughout the year, with both daytime and night-time sailings, taking approximately 9 hours.

The ferry terminal in Malmö, not far from the city centre, has an information centre, passenger toilets and a car park. Other important services such as restaurants, shops, banks and pharmacies can be found in the city centre, which can be easily reached by public transport.

Malmö ferries About Malmö

Why visit Malmö? Here are a few things to see and do:

Walk around Gamla staden, the city's old quarter characterised by colourful ancient houses. There are two main squares in this area: Stortorget houses the elegant town hall; concerts and festivals often take place here. The other is Lilla Torg, where you can see brick and half-timbered houses dating back to the late 16th century. It's a perfect place to stop for a meal in one of the restaurants with outdoor terrace and get a taste of the city life.

Go see Malmöhus Castle, an imposing 15th-century fortress. Inside is the art museum, with a rich collection of European and Scandinavian artists.

Don't miss the Turning Torso which, at 90 metres, is the tallest residential skyscraper in Sweden. Built by the famous architect Calatrava, it is inspired by the shapes of the human body in motion and is one of the most distinctive buildings on the Malmö skyline.

🍃 Take a walk in the green! Near the castle you will find the Kungsparken park, crossed by many bridges and canals, and the adjoining Slottsparken, popular with children who stop to admire the ducks and swans swimming in the artificial pond.

🐟 Go to Fiskehoddorna, the region's main fish market. The fishermen bring fresh goods there every morning. Besides the catch of the day, you can find seafood, locally smoked salmon and pickled herring.

Head to Möllevångstorget, a beautiful square that is the centre of the city's nightlife with its many restaurants and nightclubs. In the morning, a market with typical local products is held there.

If you are travelling with children, head to Folkets Park, a popular playground with swings, merry go rounds, and plenty of activities for the little ones.
