Playa Blanca is a pretty little town in the extreme south of the island of Lanzarote, in the municipality of Yaiza, Canary Islands. It is situated on the Strait de la Bocayna, which separates it from the neighboring island of Fuerteventura by only 7 nautical miles (about 13 kilometers). Lanzarote offers a variety of landscapes suitable for those who love the sea and relaxation, as well as for those who prefer to enjoy the lush nature, venture inland and go hiking.

The port of Playa Blanca is considered an important connection point with the island of Fuerteventura, known worldwide for its almost lunar landscapes. The ferries from Playa Blanca will take you to the port of Corralejo, a small town in the north of the island that offers some of the most beautiful beaches of the whole island just a few kilometers from its port. Just a few steps from the dock, travelers will find a parking lot, car and scooter rentals, a few restaurants and bars, and a supermarket. On the way to the city center there are stores, more restaurants, a bank, a pharmacy, a tobacco store, hotels and cafes.

The shipping companies Lineas Romero, Fred Olsen and Naviera Armas serve the Playa Blanca Corralejo route all year round which is operated about 24 times a day. The route from Playa Blanca to Corralejo is completed in about 30 minutes, making for an easy day trip from one island to the other.

Nearby you can visit the Playas de Papagayo, a series of white sand beaches alternating with cliffs of black lava stone, making them ideal for swimming.

The area is part of Los Ajaches Natural Park, which, in addition to astonishing desert landscapes shaped by volcanic eruptions, is a jewel in the archaeological heritage of the island of Lanzarote, thanks to the engravings and traces left by ancient shepherds.
