From ancient times, the island was under siege by pirates, used as a support point. Thanks to this reason, the island never had a stable population, later farmers from nearby islands landed in search of new land to cultivate, today the island is inhabited by very few people.

There are many beaches the island offers, mostly of fine sand and crystal clear sea, reachable on foot.
The most famous beaches are: Psili Amos, Tsigouri, Fikio, Aligaria, Lioliou and Almiros.

The island's village is Panagia, with its characteristic white houses and small streets, which will lead you to monuments such as the imposing church of Panagia Akathi.

Many activities to do on this small island, you can play volleyball on Tsigouri beach or go diving, spearfishing and even wind surfing.
