Ferries Kefalonia

The port of Kefalonia plays a key role in the economy of the Greek city through cargo and tourist traffic.

The port area of Kefalonia hosts a considerable amount of passenger and commercial traffic, providing an excellent connection service through hydrofoils and ferries. In addition, the port area enjoys a very good organizational plan for embarkation and disembarkation activities.

The port is developed in areas dedicated and equipped for the reception of ferries to Kefalonia and private vessels. In fact, the reality of the port is characterized by the polyvalence of the services offered.  The port area of Kefalonia is divided into five smaller ports: Sami, Poros, Argostoli, Pessada and Fiskardo.

The city's two main ports, however, are Sami and Poros, which serve the island's internal routes to Greece and the other islands of the Ionian archipelago.

Passengers travelling through the port of Kefalonia can take advantage of the services offered by the main shipping companies.

🚢From the port of Kefalonia there are also connections to Italy, especially to Bari, thanks to the shipping company Ventouris Ferries. The crossing takes place once a week and takes about 17 hours and 15 minutes.

Kefalonia's port area is located close to the town centre and offers ferry passengers pleasant recreational areas such as comfortable waiting rooms, snack bars, cosy restaurants and internet cafés.

The port area in front of the ferry piers offers ample parking for cars, campers, and scooters. There are also ATMs, supermarkets, rest areas and gas stations. 

The proximity to the city centre means that passengers can rent cars, scooters, and bicycles and take advantage of the public services that link the port to the city and its suburbs.

Kefalonia is the largest of the islands that make up the Ionian archipelago. It is the perfect destination if you love the sea, beaches, nature, and tranquillity.

There is no time to get bored on the island, there are plenty of things to do, there are caves, hiking trails, dream beaches and caves with beautiful scenery.

🏖️ One of the most beautiful beaches you can visit is Myrtos Beach, one of the most famous on the island, known for its expanse of fine white sand and blue waters. It has been voted one of the best beaches in Greece.

Another popular beach is Skala, which is 5 km long and has white and golden sand and crystal clear water.

🌊 A unique experience is Lake Mellissani, an underground lake 2 km from Sami. The lake can be visited by small rowing boats, but it is not possible to dive into the crystal blue water. The cave above the lake offers a unique view, an explosion of colours and nature.

A village worth visiting is Fiskardo, one of the few that survived the 1953 earthquake. If you are looking for a slice of paradise, this is the place to be.

There are also many walking trails, trekking routes and nature reserves scattered around the island. You can go snorkelling, visit the Drogarati cave or explore the Mount Ainos nature reserve.

🍴 You won't want to miss the traditional cuisine, with dishes based on fresh fish, vegetables, herbs, and spices. You must try the cod pie, wild vegetables with rice or the local wine.
